Culture & Travel

Culture is all around in our everyday lives. It is how we act, dress, eat and entertain ourselves and others. It's the little things such as peculiar proverbs or extravagant festive occasions and grand scales plays and concerts. Any way and each element defines us, the way we live and what we appreciate.
Personally, I like getting a wee bit geeky when it comes to culture, which probably has something to do with the environmental damage caused by studying culture for three years and living abroad two times. But to me there is a big difference between culture and being cultural: The broad term "culture" is for me associated with the little things such as norms and habits, whereas being cultural is the spice you add to your daily life. It is the active cultural elements I will mainly be blogging about here.

Travel is a way if being cultural too, but in a bit more extraordinary way. I adore travelling, and would love to do it even more than what my schedule and budget allows. The exciting anticipation of a travel approaching is like a drug for me. The mere thought of boarding a plane to a destination, be it known or new, is like a shot of concentrated caffein injected directly into my veins and it can keep me going for days. As a result, I aim to always have one upcoming trip planned, since the anticipational joy is sometimes just as high as the thrill of travelling.
